iLGM Welcomes new President

Congratulations to Mr Khayo Mpungose, who was elected president of the iLGM at its 13th Annual National Conference which was held at Silverstar Casino, Krugersdorp recently.

Mr Mpungose is the executive chairman of Africa Mayibuye Leadership (a municipal leadership and management consultancy).  He previously served as municipal manager of the award-winning Ugu District Municipality and subsequent to that turned around Mbombela Local Municipality when he served as its administrator.  Mr Mpungose served as iLGM KwaZulu-Natal provincial chairman for three years and vice president for two years before being elected president of the institute.

During his acceptance speech, Mr Mpungose committed himself to relentlessly work as a servant during his two-year tenure as president.  He explained that although the local sphere of government had huge leadership and management challenges, he remained convinced that success was obtainable.
